In our past year and a half of working with local bar and restaurant owners, we’ve come across them all… large chains, hole-in-the-walls, scrappy upstarts and local legends. The deals and specials that are run at these businesses range from reverse happy hours to foreign delicacies as specials, creating a diverse offering on the PLATE app. And while all of these locations are different in their own unique way, we’ve managed to find similarities among those businesses that manage to get the most out of their time on PLATE
1. They update your specials daily/weekly.
Daily, Weekly, Monthly specials are exactly the types of offerings that perform well with our users; the more creative the better! Of course, every business that sells alcohol runs a happy hour (which we explored in this blog post(link)), but it’s the food specials that really bring the entire experience together for a customer. Have the best cuban sandwich in town? Put it front and center as a special! The flexibility to create deals and specials on the fly is only limited by your creativity and inventory.
2. They’re consistent.
You’re a business owner/manager, which automatically means that you’re one of the busiest people in the organization. Fortunately for you, we’ve taken that time-crunch into account as we built up our system, which means that it’ll take you less than 5 minutes to add/edit/change your deals and/or specials. Guaranteed! And if you don’t have the time, we’ve seen that frontline employees that have a knack for be responsible do a fantastic job making sure that the deals and specials that you bar or restaurant offers are up-to-date.
3. They have a physical location (yes, food trucks most definitely fit into this category)
This aspect is extremely important for us, mostly because we use your physical location as a way to help our list formulate itself based upon a user’s location. And with food trucks: as long as you inform us a day in advance of where you’re going to set up for the following day’s service, we can update it in our system and let our users know where you’re going to be!
4. They have a basic understanding of social media platforms.
This one gets a little tricky, mostly because we’re not in any way insinuating that you NEED a social media presence to be successful on PLATE. However, being a business owner on social media teaches you 1. Consistency and 2. How to take a damn good picture, which are both vital for growth on PLATE.
5. They have a passion for hospitality
At the end of the day, PLATE is simply the best way for bars and restaurants to promote their specials and deals. It’s up to you as the business owner to ensure that each customer enjoys their experience, which ultimately leads them to come back to your business multiple times. At PLATE, we’re actively taking steps to not only ensure that our partnering businesses are getting the most value from our app and dashboard, but also that our users are enjoying the experiences that we’re offering them.
Sound familiar? The main takeaway here should be that if you’re bar or restaurant owner that active runs specials or deals, updates them regularly, and has a passion for taking care of customers from the moment they walk in the door until the moment they leave, then we want to help you get the most out of your passion.
